Responsibilities
Developing collaborative and independent research programs related to myelination and the relationship between glial cells in the nervous system
Supervise postdoctoral fellows, students, and research staff coordinating NIH-funded grant efforts with local, national, and international collaborators
Participate in writing grants, reports, and manuscripts
Qualification
Required
Expertise in the specific area of oligodendrocyte biology and myelination
Knowledge of lysosomal and cytoskeletal functions
Experience in methods including primary cell culture of oligodendrocytes
Imaging and analysis of oligodendrocyte in vitro and in vivo using fluorescence, confocal, live cell microscopy
Knowledge of cellular organellar structure, function, and interactions to study the generation of the myelin sheath and regeneration in the context of developmental and neurodegenerative diseases and injury
Ph.D. degree
