Assistant Director of Information Technology
Campus Auxiliary Services at SUNY Geneseo is a premier public liberal arts college committed to developing its employees and fostering an inclusive environment. The Assistant Director of Information Technology will lead a team of IT professionals, manage IT functions, and ensure optimal performance of computer systems and networks to support the college community.

Responsibilities
Provides supervision and direction to staff and coordinates work flow within the work unit, including distributing work, disseminating information, assigning staff to cover for absences, providing technical assistance, answering questions, and resolving problems
Partners with leadership to design and implement an IT strategy that supports innovation, efficiency, and growth
Ensures work is scheduled effectively and checkpoints and controls are set for monitoring progress
Collaborates with the leadership team in formulating and implementing IT policies, procedures, and standards
Responsible for leading corporate compliance with data security regulations and makes recommendations for improving data security policies, procedures, and standards
Provides desktop support, hardware and software support, manage systems, address remote connectivity issues, system installations and maintenance, and documenting and tracking of issues and fixes
Oversight of technical support for specialized database applications, importing and exporting data, evaluating and integrating products. This includes the upkeep and maintenance of the meal plan database
Partners with external vendors and internal stakeholders to maintain continuity of business operations including annual reviews of contracts
Performs application testing and evaluation
Ensures end of life cycles are monitored, planned and budgeted for by reviewing vendor documents and best practice guidelines. Makes recommendations for upgrade and replacement cycles to ensure vendor vulnerability updates and support are implemented and maintained, as well as appropriate annual budgeting considerations are made
Maintains data backup systems with particular focus on data integrity and proper archiving techniques
Installs, repairs and configures to site specification new and used computers
Identifies, proposes, and responds to opportunities for innovative improvements to hardware and software facilities to ensure the infrastructure is providing superior service and reliability
Responsible for providing input on project planning and task management
Understands user needs and provides the proper software solution for the user while staying within budget guidelines
Conducts staff training
Attends trainings and conferences (travel may be required) related to continued professional development, networking with peer institutions, and/or product specific training and engagement opportunities; researches important technical articles and other information from periodicals and the internet
Able to work independently and as a team member
Assists in special projects or assignments as needed
Develops project plans and coordinates projects while communicating changes and progress
Other duties may be assigned to reach individual and organizational goals. Responsibilities associated with the job may change from time to time in accordance with business needs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in related field with at least five years experience, or at least 5 years of experience in an IT management role, OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Excellent planning, organizational, administrative, budget and personnel management
Critical thinking and ability to utilize complex analytical judgment
Strong communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with all departments across the organization and campus
Innovative and proactive thinking
Prioritizes and plans work activities for self and team setting goals and objectives while balancing team and individual responsibilities
Approaches others in a tactful manner, reacts well under pressure, and treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position

Ensures compliance with state and local policies
Strong grasp and understanding of the following disciplines; Windows, SQL and Oracle, TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN networking, File security, Active directory and domain relationship/trusts
Ability to stand or sit, bend and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time
Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds occasionally
Extensive computer use
Preferred
System administration experience in a multi site environment
Experience in leading teams
Experience With Point-of-sale Systems, Audio-visual Systems And Printers
