Responsibilities
Serve as a team leader for 2-4 tax associates addressing and resolving inquiries, managing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly workflow assisting with drafting client emails and fostering client relationships and providing guidance on complex client scenarios in order to assist with tax return preparation
Meet with clients to discuss their tax situation, offer advice, and ensure client satisfaction. Meetings will be scheduled more regularly during tax season to review tax returns
Examine intricate tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal tax positions before filing
Delve into complex tax topics to extract precise information, staying updated with the latest tax regulations, and providing authoritative advice on nuanced tax subjects
Stay updated with the ever-evolving tax landscape, including the latest rulings, legislation, and best practices
Document research findings, create internal best practices, and assist in training materials for the broader team
Qualification
Required
7+ years of work experience with S-Corporations (1120S), partnerships (1065), and individuals (1040) - mostly in professional services, technology, real estate and financial services industries
2+ years of managing a small team of tax preparers
A bachelor's / master's degree in Accounting / Taxation
A CPA, EA or tax attorney
Sound knowledge on direct tax law
Ability to breakdown complex processes to simplify and optimize them
Enjoys fast paced startup environment
Preferred
experience with corporations (1120), estate planning and trusts, gifts
PE and VC (funds) experience
