EIEU Clerical Assistant, Bureau of Environmental Disease Prevention
The NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is dedicated to protecting and improving the health of New York City residents. The Clerical Associate will provide administrative and clerical support to inspectional staff and unit managers in the Bureau of Environmental Disease Prevention's Environmental Investigations and Enforcement Unit.

Responsibilities
Assist with making field appointments for Inspectors
Log calls from field staff confirming their arrival/departure from field visits
Perform data entry of information into LeadQuest or other data bases as requested
Perform data entry of information into LeadQuest or other data bases as requested
Review lab report for validity of sampling contractor EPA licenses using EPA website
Review 311 complaints for validity by calling complainant when applicable; complete the complaint
Prepare and send correspondence
Other clerical duties as needed
Qualification
Required
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization
One year of satisfactory clerical experience
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute
Preferred
Candidates should have a strong customer service background
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Courteous telephone manner
Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Previous experience entering data into databases
Strong attention to details and organizational skills
Fluency in foreign languages not required but is a plus
