The role involves leading research cruises to collect data on zooplankton abundance and distribution, while also managing various onshore and offshore responsibilities related to research preparation and execution.

Responsibilities
Organize and prepare for research cruises
Prepare reports and other project documentation
Work collaboratively with project and lab members on project objectives
Build, maintain, repair at-sea and deployed platforms
Process and analyze net tow, acoustic backscatter, and other data sets
Participate in lab meetings and training sessions
Prepare manuscripts or manuscript components
Participate in and lead research cruises
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher)
Two (2) years of full-time related research experience
Experience with at-sea data collection, zooplankton sampling, or underwater acoustics
Programming experience in R, Matlab, Python, or other statistical languages
Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations
Preferred
Bachelors' Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Marine Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Fisheries Science, Oceanography, Acoustics, or related field
Knowledge of hand tools and machine / wood shop tools
Experience analyzing acoustic backscatter data
Experience with moored instruments
Experience using advanced statistics or other quantitative analyses
Scientific diving experience
