Responsibilities
Your primary focus in the first 6-12 months will be on two key projects that are critical to their strategic roadmap:
PDF Parsing: You will lead the development of a sophisticated PDF parsing solution to extract structured data from "Leistungsverzeichnisse" LVs - complex, multi-page tender documents. The goal is to achieve a high degree of accuracy in identifying and extracting key attributes such as BKP chapters, positions, variants, manufacturers, and product models, as well as understanding the contextual information within the documents
Product Matching: You will help design and build an intelligent product matching engine to accurately map parsed items to their extensive product database of over 1 million items. This will involve a hybrid approach, combining keyword-based search with advanced semantic search and machine learning techniques to deliver highly relevant product suggestions
Long-term, you will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of other features and contribute to the core development of their Java-based backend
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in building and deploying production-ready Python projects
Solid understanding of and hands-on experience with the APIs of major LLM providers (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic)
Strong expertise in API design and implementation, particularly with RESTful APIs
Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS
A deep understanding of prompt engineering and experience in building and optimizing ML pipelines
A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with the ability to balance quality and speed
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team
Fluency in English is required
Preferred
Experience with Java (Spring Boot) is a significant plus
Knowledge of Java would be beneficial for integrating the AI features into their main application and for contributing to other parts of the product in the long run
German language skills would be the cherry on the cake
