Biosciences and Biotechnology Division Graduate Intern - Summer 2026
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is dedicated to strengthening the United States’ security through innovative research. The graduate intern will engage in practical research in the Biosciences and Biotechnology Division, working on projects related to bioenergy and microbial communities.

Responsibilities
Work with biologists, biochemists and computational scientists engaged in research on specific projects
Conduct research in assigned area under limited direction and supervision
Report and translate data using common software packages on a PC and/or Macintosh computer
Perform technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity and provide advanced technical support to scientist in scientific research and development projects
Present work through presentations and/or poster sessions
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must be eligible to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing at an accredited institution pursuing a graduate degree or has completed their bachelor's or master's degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field
Demonstrated academic achievement in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or a related field
Experience applying basic scientific principles to solve technical problems
Ability to operate PC and/or Macintosh computers to translate and report scientific data
Preferred
GPA of 3.0 or above
