Responsibilities

Plans and conducts independent mechanical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of mechanical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit
Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
Coordinates and interfaces as directed
Complete assigned engineering tasks within budget/schedule and support PEM/PE/EGS in creating schedules that align with project/program
Support and implement the Nuclear Safety Quality Culture in day-to-day work activities
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules
Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
Mentors mechanical engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development
Support the procurement of equipment by developing procurement packages, reviewing quotations and evaluating them technically, review of vendor submittals and resolution of technical issues during the procurement of mechanical equipment
Perform in a highly collaborative environment where all team members participate in resolving design challenges

Required

Requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant professional experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
Knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD (both 2-D and 3-D)
Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft office suite of products
Familiar with regulations and industry codes and standards affecting complex engineering work within discipline
Understands technical issues and costs related to selection of typical design features within discipline
Knows how to develop all standard deliverables within discipline
Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards
Familiar with effort required to prepare standard discipline deliverables and knows how to prepare standard engineering budgets and schedules within discipline
