Senior Medical X-Ray Hardware Engineer / X-Ray Integrator
Holobeam Technologies is developing a next-generation X-ray imaging system and is seeking a hands-on engineer to design, assemble, and optimize the performance of the prototype system. The role involves integrating subsystems into a working prototype and leading the development and debugging process.
BiotechnologyLife ScienceProduct Research
Responsibilities
Integrate vendor subsystems (X-ray source/generator, detector, DAQ, timing/triggering, beam shaping/collimation, optics/reflectors, and safety interlocks) into a working prototype
“Own” prototype development and debugging: alignment → exposure timing → detector acquisition → image output
Beam shaping / scatter control implementation and performance validation
Drive / lead detector modifications (mounting, packaging, shielding, mechanical/optical stack changes) and validate impact
Develop calibration + repeatability procedures; diagnose drift, misalignment, artifacts
Deliver a working, repeatable prototype on an aggressive timeline by “owning” technical sequencing and closure
Qualification
Required
Proven hands-on experience building, integrating, and assembling imaging hardware systems (X-ray preferred, CT or MRI possible)
Strong system integration + debugging skills across mechanical alignment, hardware/software interactions, and test validation
Ability to modify components and validate performance using real measurements
Comfortable being the technical 'owner' in the lab (this is not just a program management role)
This is not a field service/product support role. Service background is fine only if you've built and integrated complete X-ray systems from components
Preferred
FDA / ISO 13485 / IEC 60601 familiarity
Manufacturing transfer experience (DFM/DFA, supplier qualification, scaling builds)
Detector metrics and calibration (MTF, DQE, lag), test automation (Python/Matlab)
CT/tomosynthesis familiarity, radiation shielding experience
Benefits
Competitive salary + bonus + 401(k) + stock options
Excellent Medical Insurance
Relocation assistance available
