Responsibilities
Provide direct and indirect patient care under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the appropriate setting across the continuum of care
Communicate with the surgical staff about instrumentation, surgical procedures, and sterility
Scrub alongside a certified surgical technologist
Qualification
Required
Currently enrolled in a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited surgical technology program
Ability to communicate with surgical staff about instrumentation, surgical procedures, and sterility
Ability to scrub alongside a certified surgical technologist
Understanding of the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) responsibilities and Code of Ethics
Ability to apply the principles of aseptic technique while in the sterile role
Ability to further develop practical skills required to work as a competent surgical technologist in the perioperative environment
Ability to attain professional skills of interpersonal communication with all patients and interdisciplinary health care team members
