Application Engineer & Support Specialist

Responsibilities
Develop, test, and deploy new features and enhancements across the platform's microservices architecture, including backend Python services, APIs, and the UI
Serve as the primary point of contact for all application support issues, investigating and resolving problems related to data processing, rule evaluation, and outbound communication failures
Provide technical support and operational maintenance for a legacy application hosted in AWS during its transition period
Integrate with and support third-party communication platforms, including Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Twilio, for outbound messaging
Perform complex SQL queries against the PostgreSQL database to trace data flow and diagnose issues
Analyze logs from multiple microservices to pinpoint the root cause of errors and performance bottlenecks
Proactively monitor application health and performance using Prometheus and system logs to identify and address potential issues
Manage and troubleshoot the Docker-based application environment, and actively participate in the planning and migration of applications to Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Create and maintain thorough technical documentation for all solutions, configurations, support procedures, and system architecture
Ensure data integrity and security in handling sensitive patient data across all application services
Adhere to change management protocols, using GitLab for source control and participating in CI/CD processes
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in Python development, particularly with web frameworks like FastAPI
Proficiency with PostgreSQL and strong SQL language skills for complex data analysis and troubleshooting
Strong experience with Docker, Docker Compose, and working in a Linux-based containerized environment
Familiarity with building or maintaining microservices-based applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical users
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently to manage both development tasks and support tickets
Preferred
College education or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
Experience with ORMs, specifically SQLAlchemy, is highly desirable
Experience with or knowledge of container orchestration platforms, particularly Kubernetes, is a significant plus
Familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly AWS for legacy system support and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for future deployments, is a plus
Experience integrating with third-party APIs and platforms, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Twilio, is highly desirable
Experience with application monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana) is a strong plus
