Compliance Lab Technician

Responsibilities
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to certify IBM server and storage products for the worldwide market
Conduct safety tests, Electromagnetic (EMC) test, Shock/Vibe and/or Acoustics tests
Perform testing to IBM quality standards
Engage directly with certifying agencies
Contribute to product design reviews
Support testing in lab environments to validate safe operation under real-world conditions
Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to perform EMC, safety, Earthquake, and/or Acoustical testing
Work with engineers to certify and secure approvals for market release
Support world-wide hardware compliance
Qualification
Required
Strong communication skills
Passion to pursue career path in engineering

Familiarity with hardware systems and computer components
Knowledge and ability to work with hardware components, install disks, cards and I/O adapters (along with requisite basic knowledge of hand and power tools)
Ability to learn and adapt. In this complex environment, most everyone will be expected to learn, gain skills and continually adapt to new hardware and new challenges
Ability to follow and execute hardware test plans under the direction of engineers
Basic understanding of standards and ability to follow instructions
Familiarity with IT systems, and aptitude to install operating systems, drivers, and test software on hardware platforms
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Ability to work independently and in team environments
Creative problem-solving mindset
Willingness to adapt to fast-paced, evolving work environments
Preferred
IBM Z setup, configuration, and operation
Associates degree in electronics, IT Administration, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or similar field
Input/Output and networking skills
Python coding and scripting
Experience with compliance (Product Safety, Electromagnetic Compliance, Acoustical, Shock & Vibration, Environmental compliance)
Fundamental education in hardware and/or testing
