Junior Engineer (Construction)
The City of New York is seeking a Junior Engineer for the South Queens – Section 1 team within the Department of Design & Construction. The role involves hands-on training and assistance in moderate to difficult engineering work, research studies, and civil engineering tasks under the guidance of senior engineers.

Responsibilities
Assist in moderate to difficult engineering work, research studies, engineering investigations, and examinations relating to engineering functions
Perform civil engineering work of moderate difficulty under the direction of an Engineer-In-Charge and/or Resident Engineer
Training will be in specialized engineering areas: design, drafting, engineering investigations, estimating, specifications, structural computations, field surveys/inspections, and design-related site inspections
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college
Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position
Valid driver's license (required)
Preferred
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure work (i.e., roadway, sewer, and/or water main)
Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices
Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
Personal vehicle (preferred)
