Responsibilities
Prepares treatment areas appropriately for patient care, cleans treatment areas following patient care, to include hydrotherapy areas; assists patients to prepare for treatment; transports patients to and from the department, assists therapists and assistants with patient care, maintains linen supplies, maintains inventory of supplies, assures appropriate equipment performance prior to use, performs cleaning of the area and equipment as outlined in the policy and procedure manual
Under supervision/direction of a physician, performs specialized technical work involving orthopedic care of patients
Some supervisory and administrative duties
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Good oral and written communication skills in the English language
Ability to make safe decisions and work independently
Thorough knowledge of orthopedic traction, bracing and casting procedures along with orthotic and prosthetic devices
Ability to articulate descriptions of orthopedic conditions based on understanding of anatomical structures and their relationship with one another
Understanding of proper application of aseptic technique in dressing change and setting surgical fields
Certified by National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technology
CPR certified
Preferred
College graduate
2 years as Orthopedic Technician
