Mental Health Technicians are direct patient care providers responsible for positive role modeling, crisis intervention, facilitation of group activities and patient safety
Basic care activities such as taking patient vitals are also part of Mental Health Technician responsibilities
Mental Health Techs work within the nursing department under the direction of an RN Charge Nurse and Unit Nurse Manager
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's Degree in psychology or other related social service field is required, however, relevant psychiatric healthcare experience may be substituted for a degree
Direct patient care experience is required
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to remain calm in dynamic environment
Commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages
Excellent customer service skills
