Responsibilities

You will install and repair bulkheads, wall and floor coverings, ladder treading and other temporary protective coverings
You will erect any staging required to support Production and Public Works Shops on all vessels as needed
You will retain proper qualifications to operate crane, hoist, forklifts, and/or other motor vehicles
You will use knowledge of supporting structures and competence in preparation for launching

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to distinguish between colors and shades of colors
You will be required to climb ladders and scaffolding
This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license and be able to operate a crane, truck, tractor or vehicle
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You will be required to lift/carry up to 50 pounds in weight
Experience reading, interpreting, and working from blueprints, plan, sketches, manufacturers and military specifications
Experience utilizing shop arithmetic, algebra, and geometry to make accurate layouts of material
Experience demonstrating skill and knowledge of builds and layouts of bulge blocks as supporting cradles during docking and undocking procedures
Experience cutting and building blocks and other parts for supporting cradles
Experience laying-out center line and reference points for use in docking and undocking of vessels
Experience distinguishing required adjustments to bilge and keel blocks for proper alignment
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements
