WARGAMING OPERATIONS SPECIALIST

Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of a Wargaming Operations team, ensuring the planning and execution of joint and combined exercises and wargaming with air, land, maritime, and civil expertise utilizing representative models and simulations to comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet customer needs
Serves as a senior analyst in the Wargaming Division and adversary subject matter expert (SME) advisor
Serves as a Wargaming Training and Friendly Forces Planner, SME and principal action officer for N&NC/J7 Wargaming Division
Responsible for communicating and effectively integrating the Commands policies, plans, procedures, actions, and milestones to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of planning, development, modification, execution, engagement, evaluation and analysis of wargame, TTX, and SLS events. Articulates and communicates to the team upcoming assignments and projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and /or program issues under review, and deadlines with timeframes for completion

Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations in performance of temporary duty (TDY)
Employee may be required to work non-traditional duty hours and/or be 'on call' after normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required on short notice
May be required to perform Battle Roster functions during Exercise and Real World events
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions- Miscellaneous Administration & Program (0301)
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-12) level
Comprehensive knowledge of local, state, and federal agencies organization, structure and plans as related to Defense Support of Civil Authorities, homeland security, homeland defense, security cooperation, crisis management, consequence management, and civil disturbance
Expert knowledge and understanding of the current missions, capabilities, organization and operations of: NORAD, USNORTHCOM; other unified commands; military services; National Guard; US Coast Guard, Reserve Forces; Department of Defense; DOD intelligence organizations; and FBI, CIA, DOJ, DOE, FEMA, international partners etc
Skill in the management of detailed planning and execution of multiple wargames and exercises
Knowledge of the functions, goals, objectives, and work processes pertinent to conducting Combatant Command and Bi-national Command training exercises
Knowledge of current military law, national strategy, national response framework, joint plans, policies, plans and guidance
Skill in applying Joint Training System concepts to meet exercise and training objectives and reporting responsibilities
Knowledge of crisis response processes and the command and controls systems
Skill in written and oral communication
Knowledge of foreign disclosure, security policies and procedures
Skill in leading wargaming and exercise planning events, to negotiate and defend ideas and support wargaming and exercise concepts
Skill in managing several projects simultaneously
Skills in the preparation of broad and difficult comprehensive management studies to propose solutions to challenging management problems
