Team Lead Process Engineer - Nuclear Waste & Recovery

Responsibilities
Support the execution of developing methods to process and disposition all waste streams generated by the TRISO-X Facility, a nuclear fuel fabrication facility being designed to manufacture TRISO coated-particle-based fuel forms using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program / project requirements

Wastewater holding tanks
Wastewater sampling

Waste monitoring and surveying
Interface with and provide support to waste permitting
Work with commercial nondestructive assay equipment (NDA) manufacturers to develop/procure/implement NDA systems to support disposition of waste streams potentially contaminated with low enriched uranium
Create and continually update a master list of all waste streams in the TRISO-X Facility
Support the design and licensing of the TRISO-X Facility
Supports with the management of the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensures qualified engineers are performing assigned work
Lead design cycle sprints and provide direction to ensure the convergence of efforts of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering work products are on schedule and within budget as defined by the Project leadership
May manage Waste & Recovery staff by ensuring staff are meeting expectations and promoting staff professional development
Influences and supports the development of strategy, methodology and technical tools for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation
Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create the next generation nuclear reactor technologies
Perform work in accordance with design control procedures, ensuring thorough documentation of work, facilitation of internal and external design reviews, and control of product design configuration data
Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication
Perform other duties as assigned by manager
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college
Typically, seven plus years of relevant engineering after completion of undergraduate study. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience
Willing to work with hazardous materials such as low enriched uranium, nitric acid, and phenolic resin
Strong chemistry background to understand concentrations and chemical hazards present in waste streams
Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing facility design and approaches to lean manufacturing
Experience in design of chemical processing equipment or related systems
Understanding of waste permitting in the state of Tennessee
