Field Assessor
Union County is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Field Assessor to join their Assessment Office. This role is responsible for performing field assessments of County properties to determine fair market value for taxation purposes and for gathering occupational tax data.

Responsibilities
Conducts field inspections of new and existing properties to determine fair market value for tax billing purposes
Gathers and records property data including measurements, sketches, photographs, and other features affecting valuation
Reviews property records, sales data, ownership information, and other relevant documentation
Calculates appraised values and maintains uniformity and equalization across properties
Inputs field and appraisal data into the County’s computer systems and generates related reports
Provides information to property owners regarding assessments, valuation processes, and tax regulations
Defends appraisal values at appeal hearings and provides supporting documentation as required
Updates and maintains assessment and appraisal databases, records, and files
Operates a County vehicle to travel to properties throughout the County
Maintains current knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures related to property assessment
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in real estate appraisal or property assessment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required
Must obtain and maintain the Certified Pennsylvania Evaluator (CPE) designation within three (3) years of hire
Ability to accurately collect, analyze, and interpret property data
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Effective verbal and written communication abilities
Skilled in operating computers and standard office software
Ability to handle fieldwork in various weather and environmental conditions
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain fairness and accuracy in property assessments
Preferred
Vocational/technical training in property assessment
