Enterprise Data Tech Services Data Engineer
Columbia Bank New Jersey is seeking an Enterprise Data Technology Services Data Engineer to assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise data platforms and integration solutions. Responsibilities
Assist in building and maintaining enterprise data assets across data lakes, warehouses, and reporting environments
Ensure platforms are scalable, secure, and performant through collaboration with infrastructure and architecture teams
Support the development, documentation, validation, and deployment of curated, pre-aggregated datasets to improve dashboard and reporting efficiency
Help maintain and optimize SSIS packages for reliable and efficient data ingestion and transformation
Create and manage access to datasets and content packs so business users can execute self-service reporting against these datasets
Work with users and team members at all levels for performance improvement and suggestions
Develop and maintain effective and productive working relationships with other departments and senior managers
Troubleshoot data issues to identify root causes and fixes
Perform validation to ensure the data's accuracy, quality, and completeness using SQL Server Management Studio, Oracle Developer Studio, Excel, Etc
Remain current in emerging technology trends, primarily related to the financial services industry
Identify, communicate, and resolve data quality and data reconciliation issues
Help architect and implement data inflow and outflow processes from various internal and external sources
Contribute to the development and optimization of ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data
Collaborate on data transformation strategies to support analytics and operational use cases
Create simple SSIS packages to import data from Access, Excel, XML, OLE DB Source, and flat files to import and transform data between databases and external data sources
Use SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to load and transform flat files and other structured data sources into enterprise data platforms
Have working knowledge to modify and create tables, views, stored procedures, and user-defined functions to update/insert data
Database tables and view creation (DDL, DML, DQL), database tuning, SQL tuning, and performance planning
Transform raw data by writing complex SELECT (DQL) statements in SQL with JOINs to update data sets through insert, update, and delete statements (DDL & DML)
Support the management of cloud-based data platforms, including third-party integrated data warehouse solutions
Assist in provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining cloud infrastructure for data services
Participate in efforts to modernize legacy systems and migrate workloads to cloud environments
Participate in evaluating and implementing emerging technologies such as data mesh, AI/ML platforms, and real-time analytics
Collaborate with the Data Governance team to enforce data standards and policies
Assist in implementing tools for data lineage, cataloging, and quality monitoring
Provide infrastructure support to Data Quality and BI teams to improve data accuracy and consistency
Help build semantic layers, curated datasets, and data marts to empower business users with self-service analytics
Support the development of frameworks and tools that enable secure and scalable data access
Collaborate with organizational stakeholders to understand business requirements, needs, gaps, and issues to design and create relevant curated datasets and data marts
Contribute to modernization efforts by supporting the transition from legacy systems to modern data architectures
Help stakeholders define business terms and descriptions to catalog key business terms and calculations to add to the Enterprise Data Office's Data Handbook
Understand business requirements and convert them into technical specifications for datasets, data marts, or instructions to communicate with third parties
Follow and conform to the Software Development Life Cycle, such as requirements gathering, development, documentation, and deployment to various environments
Use the workflow management and prioritization tool to catalog status, stakeholder approvals, and communication of current deliverables
Create and maintain business requirement documents and gain stakeholder approvals
Maintain version control by tracking changes for reports and dashboards
Qualification
Required
Degree or technical accreditation or relevant self-paced training courses
Minimum 2 years' experience
Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SQL Developer (Oracle and Microsoft), Mulesoft
Proficient in SQL Programming (DDL, DML) and API Configuration
Skilled in stakeholder management and gathering user requirements
Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders
Familiarity with Relational Database Models
