Contribution Specialist

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is a national insurance group seeking a Contribution Specialist for their Workers Compensation Division in San Diego, CA. The role involves managing a limited caseload of Contribution claims files, analyzing coverage and medical evidence, and assisting with special projects for the team.

Responsibilities

Manages a limited caseload of Contribution Consultation files (co-defendant seeking contribution from BHHC)
Analyzes coverage and cumulative trauma injury periods, medical evidence, co-defendant demands and payment records to identify and make recommendations on contribution and reimbursement to co-defendant based on the Labor Code, case law, and facts of the case
Accurately completes and updates the Contribution Logs and Module, maintains active Diary and Notepad documentation until contribution issues have been resolved
Actively evaluates and codes all Joint Coverage fields in the Contribution Module and Claims Maintenance screens
Communicates with and seeks authority from Claims Professionals and/or Management to coordinate negotiation and settlement of contribution on consultation files
Prepares Contribution Stipulations as appropriate
Participates in a variety of Contribution-related projects, such as process mapping and process improvements, as time permits

Qualification

California workers compensation adjustingLegal terminology knowledgeClaims software proficiencyData analytic skillsMicrosoft Office proficiencyCommunication skillsProblem-solving skills

Required

High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Credential such as GED, HiSET, or TASC required
Basic data analytic skills to perform solid data collection, analysis, and reporting required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products required
Knowledge of claims software systems and ability to master and become proficient on proprietary and vended software programs required

Preferred

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university highly preferred
Minimum of 2 years of California workers compensation adjusting experience preferred
Prior litigation support experience a plus
Basic workers compensation adjusting knowledge and familiarity with regulatory standards for the State of California preferred
Knowledge of legal terminology and legal clerical procedures pertaining to the preparation and processing of basic contribution settlement documentation highly preferred
