Hydraulic Modeler
CONSOR Engineers is focused on supporting municipal utility clients with critical infrastructure projects. As a Hydraulic Modeler, you will develop and analyze hydrologic and hydraulic models to optimize water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, collaborating closely with engineers and planners to ensure regulatory compliance and system efficiency.
Responsibilities
Develop, calibrate, and maintain hydraulic and hydrologic models for water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems using software such as SWMM, EPASWMM, EPANET, InfoWater Pro, InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, WaterCAD/GEMs, SewerCAD/GEMS or MIKE+ software
Analyze system performance under existing and future conditions to support master planning, capital improvement planning, and asset management
Support municipal utility projects by identifying bottlenecks, overflows, infiltration/inflow (I/I) issues, and flood risk areas through dynamic modeling
Prepare clear technical documentation, model summaries, maps, and visualizations to support internal teams and client presentations
Assist in field data collection and site visits to support model calibration, including flow monitoring and utility hole inspections
Extract and process GIS data, survey files, and utility records to build and update system models
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to integrate modeling results into design documents, reports, and permit applications
Participate in the development of stormwater management plans, sanitary sewer evaluations, and water distribution system assessments
Ensure modeling efforts meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements (EPA, FEMA, state DEPs)
Contribute to QA/QC processes to ensure data integrity, model accuracy, and consistency across deliverables
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 2 years of experience in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling for municipal utility systems
EIT certification required
Proficiency in modeling software such as SWMM, EPASWMM, EPANET, InfoWater Pro, InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, WaterCAD/GEMs, SewerCAD/GEMS or MIKE+
Strong GIS skills (ArcGIS, QGIS) and experience using spatial data to support modeling tasks
Familiarity with U.S. municipal utility systems, infrastructure design standards, and regulatory frameworks (EPA, FEMA, Clean Water Act, etc.)
This office job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines
May occasionally be exposed to noise
While performing the duties of this job, the physical demands of the employee may include constant sitting, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and occasional standing, moving, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, and coordination
This job will rarely require lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling over to 35 lbs
Preferred
Master's degree a plus
PE license or ability to obtain within 12-24 months preferred
