Comprehensive Cancer Program Coordinator

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is dedicated to ensuring health equity and improving health outcomes in New Mexico. The Comprehensive Cancer Program Coordinator collaborates with stakeholders to implement cancer prevention and control initiatives, focusing on health equity and effective communication with community partners.

Health Care

Responsibilities

Assisting the New Mexico Cancer Council with administrative tasks including meeting minutes and communications and supporting special projects
Using strong technical writing and analytical skills for grant reporting, evaluation, and communication
Developing and monitoring contracts for the Comprehensive Cancer Program with partners in community education and cancer support, among other activities
Developing and/or revising educational materials such as brochures and presentations for audiences with different levels of health literacy
Conducting educational presentations on cancer prevention and control topics for priority populations
Providing technical assistance to contractors and other partners
Providing leadership, support, coordination, and collaboration to Population and Community Health Bureau processes and activities

Required

Associate's degree and two (2) years of experience program administration or project management in areas related to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico, or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment
Experience in and knowledge of public health principles and approaches, in particular as they relate to cancer prevention and control
Community and coalition partnership development and sustainability, including leadership within partnerships
Outstanding communication and writing skills
Experience coordinating and collaborating with diverse groups of stakeholders on project planning, implementation, and evaluation
Experience in working to achieve health equity
