The role of Civil / Highway Engineer in Transportation Design involves working on a variety of projects including roadway and site-civil design, traffic engineering analysis, and transportation planning studies. The engineer will develop design criteria and specifications, coordinate utility conflicts, and collaborate with a larger design team to meet client needs.

Responsibilities

Develop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation details

Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needs

Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates

Implement 3D CADD modeling techniques

Develop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standards

Adhere to and promote AECOM quality procedures

Complete interdisciplinary technical reviews

Contribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budget

Prepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitations

Work collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client’s scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making

Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managers

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering degree accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and two (2) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, with highway transportation projects located within the United States

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification

Demonstrated experience using Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD), AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or similar design highway or transportation design applications
