Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking an Assistant or Associate General Counsel to join their General Counsel and Compliance Department. The role involves reviewing and negotiating a variety of contracts while providing legal guidance to support the clinical and research missions of the center.

Responsibilities

Reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of contracts, which may include: (i) procurement contracts (equipment and product purchase and service agreements); (ii) information technology (IT) contracts (software licensing and hosting/SaaS agreements); (iii) technology transfer (licensing agreements, collaborative and partnership agreements, and commercialization and distribution agreements); (iv) research contracts (sponsored and collaborative research agreements, data and material transfer agreements); (v) lease and construction contracts; (vi) academic affiliation agreements; (vii) professional service and staffing agreements

Assisting the General Counsel and the Chief Legal Officer with other legal matters as needed to support the clinical and research missions of Roswell Park

Providing regulatory guidance, contract interpretation, and other legal support to various clinical, research, and administrative departments

Interfacing with management of various clinical, research and administrative departments, and providing timely legal guidance to facilitate Roswell Park objectives and support operations, while minimizing potential legal risk and exposure

Maintaining knowledge of New York Laws applicable to public entities and hospitals, as well as general health and privacy laws to support legal practice

Required

J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and admitted to practice law by the State of New York Bar

One (1) year of full-time private practice or in-house legal experience for Assistant General Counsel

Four (4) years of full-time responsible private practice or in-house legal experience, including general corporate and/or business related matters for Associate General Counsel

Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices
