Associate Director, Fraternity & Sorority Life

Inside Higher Ed is seeking an Associate Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life to enhance student engagement and leadership at Miami University. This role involves supervising staff, advising student leaders, and collaborating with various campus and community partners to improve the student experience.

Responsibilities

Coordinates student leader advising and management of the fraternity and sorority chapter services team
Serves as a chapter services liaison advising chapters, working with national headquarters staff and local chapter and housing corporation officers
Supervise three Assistant Directors who provide direct advisement and support to the council presidents of the Panhellenic Association, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the Multicultural Greek Council and the Interfraternity Council
Supports the management of the Sorority Living Learning Community assignment process and the Interfraternity Council 2nd Year Housing Exemption process (in conjunction with Campus Services)
Assist the Director in marketing and communication efforts for the department
Responsible for relationship building, resource development and support to local and national advisory groups
Assists in the production, collection, and management of accurate membership records, recruitment statistics, and scholarship reports
Supports and maintains regular communication and collaborative relationships with various constituents with the City of Oxford community and the Division of Student Life and other University offices
Assists the Director in providing leadership for the Office in establishing and fulfilling its mission and strategic priorities; and in conducting daily operations and responsibilities
Assists the Director with donor relations and stewardship initiatives
Supports and maintain office standards and policies
Develops and provides oversight for office wide signature programs, workshops, and leadership retreats. This includes program and curriculum design as well as workshop facilitation
Actively participate in Student Life and University Committees
Other duties as assigned, provided they support the mission of the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Wilks Institute for Leadership and Service
Involvement in special projects with the Division of Student Life
Involvement with departmental, divisional, and University-wide committees and task forces
Involvement as a facilitator for national/international leadership programs, retreats and institutes
Involvement within the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA)
Involvement within the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV)

Required

Master's Degree in College Student Personnel/ Student Affairs or related field
Three (3) to five (5) years professional experience working in Student Activities and/or Fraternity and Sorority Life and/or working with an inter/national headquarters staff
Knowledge and effective application of collegiate leadership development theory
Experience in fraternity and sorority advising, program/event planning, leadership development, alcohol education and/or hazing prevention is required
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of best practices and ability to infuse research with practical experience to create intentional leadership programs for fraternity and sorority life
Must have outstanding leadership, management and interpersonal skills to relate and work with a variety of faculty, students, parents, staff and community members
Willingness to work in a team oriented and collaborative environment
Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Preferred

Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
Certifications in personal assessment instruments (Clifton Strengths, MBTI, Emotional Intelligence, etc.)
Familiarity with social media accounts and website maintenance
Experience working on an inter/national headquarters staff or as a volunteer for an inter/national organization
