Responsibilities
Define the long-term Platform-as-a-Product strategy for Visa’s Risk Infrastructure
Build a clear roadmap for risk platform
Align with cross-functional teams to ensure the platform supports the needs of various stakeholders
Lead the development of horizontal services that support multiple vertical business lines
Write clear, well-structured Epics and Features that translate technical architecture into actionable engineering work
Champion InnerSource culture, reusable components, and modular architecture
Conduct continuous backlog grooming and release planning to ensure the platform remains healthy and scalable
Work closely with Platform Engineering, SREs, Security Architects, and Data Scientists
Act as a service provider to internal customers (PMs for Rules, Case Management, and Identity), gathering their feedback to improve the platform
Communicate roadmap and technical progress to leadership, translating technical wins into business outcomes (e.g., improved time-to-market)
Qualification
Required
8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Demonstrated success building internal developer platforms, infrastructure-as-a-service, or API-first products
Understanding of risk system capabilities like rules management, case management, and fraud detection is highly preferred
Experience building large-scale, real-time mission-critical platforms (SaaS/PaaS)
Familiarity with data science workflows, ML model deployment pipelines, and big data architectures
Able to break down complex technical ideas into clear user value (Why does this infrastructure upgrade matter to the business?)
Strong communicator who writes clearly, listens actively, and works well across technical and non-technical teams
Uses data to make decisions comfortable defining and tracking technical KPIs (Latency, Throughput, Error Rates)
Balances long-term architectural purity with practical delivery needs and business priorities
Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Comfortable working with modern architectures: Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, and REST/gRPC APIs
Knowledge of Cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/GCP), Containerization (Kubernetes/Docker), and CI/CD tools (Jenkins/GitLab)
Understanding of Data Streaming (Kafka), Database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Graph DBs), and Observability tools (Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana)
Familiarity with Security protocols (OAuth, OIDC, TLS, KMS) and compliance standards (PCI-DSS)
Preferred
9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
