CRIMINAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN

NEOGOV is seeking a Criminal Information Systems Technician for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office. The role involves managing criminal justice information, ensuring compliance with data regulations, and supporting law enforcement investigations through data retrieval and analysis.

Responsibilities

Read and understand different criminal charges and documents; perform various administrative duties as needed
Accurately input and update criminal justice information into various databases, including arrest records, warrants, and incident reports
Retrieve and analyze criminal information to assist in investigations, identify trends, and generate reports
Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations, including access controls and strict confidentiality protocols
Work closely with law enforcement agencies and officers, analysts, and other stakeholders to support their investigative needs
Processes inmates into the jail booking and fingerprinting inmate, updating inmate records with court dispositions and criminal arrest warrants; schedule and/or prepare the Court calendar for inmates to appear in court; disseminate sensitive GCIC databanks via GCIC/NCIC terminal computer to other law enforcement agencies; communicate via digital mobile devices with emergency dispatcher; register Sex Offenders on the National Offender Registry Systems and enter court ordered temporary and permanent protection orders (TPO) on databanks
Respond to GCICI/ NCIC hit request from other agencies; performs GCIC/NClC wanted person's inquiry on offenders admitted to the jail; place detainers/holds on offenders for extradition, immigration and other local law enforcement agencies; process apprehension requests for law enforcement agencies to apprehend offenders within a limited timeframe; process court orders to admit and/or release inmates from the jail
Update inmate record upon receipt of case dispositions or court order; enter warrants; maintain inmate data, charge status and/or disposition in odyssey; validate GCIC/NCIC warrant entries; modify and cancel warrants on GCIC/NCIC and in odyssey; Log and disseminate GCIC/NCIC sensitive information to authorized personnel and/or other law enforcement agencies; Monitor GCIC/NCIC Computer Terminal; Prepares Calendars for the next day court transport
Clears/removes all invalid warrants entry from the GCIC/NCIC; conduct Criminal History background investigations via GCIC/NCIC computer terminals
Perform customer service functions in person, by telephone, by email, or by mail; respond to routine questions and complaints; research problems and initiate problem resolution; refer complex complaints/problems to appropriate personnel. Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations within designated timeframe and adherence to established procedures
Operate or use various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operate a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, internet, e-mail, or other systems and software; and operates general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions

Required

High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of clerical or customer service experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), computer systems, databases, and data entry
Ability to accurately input and verify data
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Understanding of data security protocols and best practices
Basic knowledge of criminal justice principles and procedures
Ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive information
Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Certification; Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) Network Operator Training; Security and Awareness Training must be obtained within first 90 days of employment
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position
May be required to pass a typing test as a condition of employment. If applicable, must accurately type a minimum of 40 wpm, utilizing a personal computer
Requires an extensive background check
Must be flexible to work various shifts as needed, including nights, holidays and weekends - 24/7 operations

Preferred

Previous experience working in a Booking Unit
Experience with specific criminal justice information systems (e.g., GCIC, NCIC, RMS, etc.)
