Research Assistant - Vascular Biology Center

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators and healthcare providers. The Research Assistant at the Vascular Biology Center will assist with laboratory experiments, data collection, and animal care, contributing to research on cardiovascular diseases.

Responsibilities

Assist with lab experiments including cell culture, protein and RNA isolation, western blot, PCR, ELISA, and Immunohistochemistry according to the research protocols
Assist with data collection during experimental procedures, maintaining detailed records of all results and observations
Assist with animal care and handling, following established protocols for the care and handling of laboratory mice, ensuring their well-being and adherence to ethical guidelines
Work closely with the research team, assisting with contributions to the development of experimental protocols and preparation of experiments and equipment
Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and manuscripts based on experimental results
Assist in maintaining the laboratory environment, including the upkeep of equipment, inventory management, package pickup, and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research

Preferred

Experience with cell culture, animal breeding, genotyping, routine lab experiments like western blot and RNA isolation/qPCR
