Research Assistant- Vascular Biology Center

Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators and healthcare providers. The Research Assistant in the Vascular Biology Center will maintain a clean lab environment, assist in cell culture and tissue collection, and perform molecular experiments to support research in cardiovascular diseases.

Responsibilities

Mouse colony maintenance, genotyping and inventory updates
Collect issue samples from mice and perform molecular and histopathological experiments
Assistance in cell culture, Western blot
Frozen sectioning; immunostaining
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research or clinical setting
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, social sciences, natural sciences, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research or clinical area
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases or willingness to learn
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and prioritization skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability and willingness to work with research animals
Ability to complete work, meet deadlines and work independently with only general supervision
