WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Communications Network System Engineer for their office in New York, NY. The role involves participating in design reviews, overseeing network system integration, and supporting project designs to clarify requirements and provide solutions.

Responsibilities

Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project activities
Participate in design reviews, safety assessments, and quality assurance activities, offering expert network systems engineering insight
Assist in resolving design issues and questions from the Design Build contractor
Communicate and coordinate with the Design Build contractor and the project team
Must be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against the contract requirements
Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations
Oversee network system integration including testing, validating performance and safety across all components
Support network teams in project designs to clarify project requirements, provide design solutions, in accordance with standards
Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems
Document network hardware and software technology components
Review, analyze, and critique router, switch, and firewall network configurations
Review and analyze the design and implementation of LAN /WAN technologies such as VLANs, trunking (port tagging), spanning-tree protocols. In addition to Segment Routing Architecture, including critical understanding of the implementation of SR-MPLS, BGP, OSPF and other WAN routing protocols
Prepares and gives briefings and presentations, advises senior management
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Inspects construction site to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on Communications technologies
Minimum 10 years of experience in Network Communications or IT experience
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Technical writing, analytical and communication skills
Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products
Project management experience leading initiatives from review to completion, including schedule integration, testing, and network system commissioning
The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Basic leadership abilities, capable of coordinating cross-functional teams and delivering on schedule
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders

Preferred

Strong grasp of Communications/Network engineering principles, including requirements management, architecture design, and system validation
Solid knowledge of network designs in support of the CBTC deployment and their practical applications
General Knowledge of Cellular Networks and general Cellular network core implementation using software-defined, cloud-native, and virtualized functions to provide essential services like user authentication, policy enforcement, and data routing
Familiarity with NY area transportation agencies such as Amtrak, LIRR, MetroNorth, NJT, NYCT, PANYNJ and their technical approach
Relocation assistance is not available for this position
This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP
This position requires min. 4 days, on-site either at the client's office and/or the project office for the duration of the program. The project is located in New York City
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
