Laborer Sports
NEOGOV is seeking a Laborer for the Sports Division within the Parks & Recreation Department of the City of Bloomington, Indiana. The incumbent will be responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of all sports facilities, including scheduling and directing work crews, assisting in maintenance operations, and ensuring a safe work environment.

Responsibilities
Prepares and submits to the Sports Division Supervisors proposals, equipment requirements, and material needs designed to meet the maintenance needs of the Sports Division
Schedules, directs, and gives hands-on assistance to work crews in the upkeep and maintenance of sports facilities including but not limited to; mowing, aeration, fertilization, irrigation, field lighting, scoreboard maintenance, re-sodding, seeding, infield grooming, general facility and restroom cleaning
Directs work crews and assists in sports related facility maintenance of tennis/pickleball courts, nets, and lights
Assist the Sports Division Supervisors in making daily playability decisions
Assist in maintenance operation of the Twin Lakes Recreation Center with the completion of tasks including but not limited to; repair/upkeep of fitness equipment, drinking fountains, scoreboard, snow removal, facility cleaning and special projects with Facility Operations Coordinator
Responsible for assisting the Facility Operations Coordinator in the recruitment, training, management and evaluation of seasonal employees
Ability to work in all conditions and times as required by the scheduled events within the sports division
Assists division staff at special events or programs
Schedules and assists work crews for weekend facility events that include league games, local, regional, and national tournaments
Takes all reasonable steps to ensure and maintain a safe work environment at all facilities
Performs related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent (GED); or combination of education and experience that give the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position
Knowledge of the full range of theories and principles accepted in the field of grounds and facility maintenance
Ability to operate trucks and equipment such as various mowing equipment, weed eater, chain saw, aerifier/aerator, rototiller, small tractor, and small hand tools
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate inventory records
Ability to direct, train, coordinate, and evaluate the work of temporary part-time staff
Ability to obtain Red Cross First Aid and CPR training within 90 days of employment
Ability to obtain Registered Technician and 3B Turf Management licenses through OISC within 90 days of employment
Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle

Eligible employees receive 13 paid holidays per year.
They may earn up to 4 weeks (160 hours) of Paid Time Off in their first year of employment and 5 weeks (200 hours) in their second calendar year of employment.
The City contributes 100% of the 14.2% of a regular employee's salary to their retirement fund through the Indiana Public Retirement System (INPRS).
Employees may contribute additional pre-taxed dollars to a 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan account to supplement their retirement earnings.
The City will contribute double the amount of the employee's 457 (b) contribution to a 401(a) account up to $30 per pay.
Health, vision, and dental insurance premiums are subsidized by the City and are available on day one of employment to regular employees.
Employees may elect the High Deductible Insurance plan with the City providing an HSA contribution and if the employee is a non-smoker or participating in the Tobacco Cessation program, the employee only plan is at no cost to the employee.
Employees and their dependents (ages 3 and up) who are on the City's health insurance may utilize the City Employee Health Clinic.
Employees may receive over $2,400 per year in HSA contributions and wellness reimbursements, insurance discounts, and incentives.
The City offers life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, and long term disability insurance at no cost to employees.
Employees may elect voluntary term life and short-term disability insurance.
After 1 year of employment, six weeks of paid parental leave are available to eligible employees.
