Responsibilities
Responsible for the maintenance, adjustment, monitoring, and operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related equipment at Middletown Airbase
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on all HVAC units
Assist in the installation of liquid petroleum and natural gas related equipment
Installing new units and component parts
Making adjustments, and repairing various types of HVAC systems
Identify and troubleshoot complex equipment malfunctions
Perform diagnostics, and test equipment to ensure functionality
Prepare material lists of assigned jobs
Maintain records of work performed and material utilized
Return any unused materials and equipment to stock
Qualification
Required
Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls
You must possess an active motor vehicle license
You must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment
You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening and possess one of the following for admittance to the Middletown Air Base: valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license; other REAL ID-compliant identification cards; alternative acceptable document such as a passport; or military/CAC/retirees' ID card
You must be able to perform essential job functions
Preferred
Willingness and ability to work in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
Possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification
Possession of an Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification
Experience in the maintenance, repair, or installation of refrigeration and HVAC systems, units, and equipment
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and/or wiring diagrams/schematics
Experience making adjustments and repairs to the heating systems (steam, hot water, and gas) and refrigeration and freezer units (reach-in and walk-in)
Experience installing refrigeration or HVAC systems, units, equipment, and peripheral devices
Experience performing preventative maintenance on all related equipment
Experience responding to emergencies by going onsite and troubleshooting problems
Experience making adjustments online or in-person, if necessary, to maintain comfortable conditions
Experience conducting building inspections to ensure adequate heating, cooling, humidifying, dehumidifying, and circulation in buildings
