INTERDISCIPLINARY SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER/SUPERVISORY HEALTH PHYSICIST
USAJOBS is seeking an Interdisciplinary Supervisory Nuclear Engineer/Supervisory Health Physicist to serve in the Radiological Emergency Planning Division at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Responsibilities
You will plan, organize, and direct the activities within the Radiological Emergency Planning Division at the Branch level
You will be the lead during design, budgeting, procurement, and implementation of all new technology and equipment
You will be responsible for ensuring overall facility and equipment readiness of the Radiological Emergency Response organization to respond to a large-scale casualty
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Consolidated Emergency Control Center (CECC) operations and maintenance
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Experience analyzing emergency management needs, identifying specific problems or issues, evaluating alternatives, and developing recommendations for changes or resolutions
Experience with reactor plant, nuclear ship design, instrumentation, operating characteristics and casualty procedures
Experience interpreting and applying policies, regulations, directives, instructions, and procedures governing emergency management and safety
Experience enforcing NAVSEA guidelines, local shipyard practices, and requirements of Radiological Emergency Planning Division
Applicants must possess a degree in engineering or natural science that meets the basic requirements for Nuclear Engineering Series 0840 or Health Physics Series 1306
