RailWorks Corporation is seeking an experienced Traction Electrification Engineer for the St. Clair County Metrolink Extension Systems project. Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, oversee, manage traction power engineering activities to ensure they comply with company and contract requirements from design through construction, testing, and commissioning of the project
Provide technical support for construction efforts including design interpretation, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts and constructability reviews
Manage traction power design and integration with the base design developed by the engineer of record such that there are no scope gaps and the systems are functional and acceptable to the agency
Coordinate traction power design, procurement, installation and testing requirements and compliance to the needs of the Contract QA/QC plans in concert with QA/QC manager
Ensure traction power design work is scheduled and executed timely to meet project needs
Ensure that accurate and complete scopes of work are provided to traction power engineering subcontractors as it pertains to the work being performed by LKCNT
On design-build projects, ensure that design development stays within the confines of how the project was bid such that any unnecessary scope creep is avoided
Manage traction power subcontract(s) including performing schedule reviews and reviews and approval of all billings and change proposals
Support Construction Managers in the development of installation plans and provide comments as to adherence to project requirements
Develop traction power CDRL requirements including product data, design, test procedures, test reports, O&M Manuals & Training Material submittals
Produce correspondence such as letters, RFI’s, transmittals
Review change order drawings and specifications; develop, track and assist with negotiating proposals and change orders
Ensure labor tracking is coordinated and controlled between accounting and construction
Assist in preparation of bids, including assisting with take-offs, requests for pricing, project set up, quality control, design reviews and other related tasks
Review, analyze, and resolve field construction problems and discrepancies related to design
Advise Project Manager of schedule conflicts and problems, and work with field supervision to resolve schedule conflicts
Support/assist with monitoring and forecasting of project costs and revenues; assist with development of new methods to improve costs
Manage closeout documentation required to be submitted/approved to achieve final acceptance
Ensure timely procurement and delivery of traction power equipment in support of the schedule
Manage testing and commissioning of traction power systems and provide support to the agency’s integrated systems testing as required
Ensure that an effective business relationship is established and maintained with the agency, prime contractor, subcontractors and suppliers
Attend meetings as required

Required

A minimum of 5 years of traction power/power distribution systems/engineering experience including a thorough knowledge of construction industry practices, methods, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities in a rail transit environment
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions
Ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications, and to comprehend and recognize safety standards and issues
Knowledge of general contract and subcontract documents
Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
The ability to effectively interact with both customers and employees
The ability to work independently as well as operate successfully as part of a collaborative team
The ability to successfully execute decisions
The ability to grasp facts, processes, and procedures quickly in a rapidly changing environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, cost and schedule controls

Preferred

Preferably an Electrical PE with a good knowledge of current code and standards requirements for electrical work
An advanced degree is a plus (In lieu of a degree, extensive experience in the military, railroad/construction, or related field will be considered)
