Motor Vehicle Operator (Forklift Operator)

Responsibilities
Drives a variety of vehicles/equipment, such as pickup, panel, flatbed trucks and forklifts, buses, and various conveyors
Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel-powered forklift trucks which are capable of lifting loads of less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to facilitate loading and unloading duties
Miscellaneous operator duties
Provides the full range of passenger services in the terminal

The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator (Forklift Operator) without more than normal supervision
Knowledge of operating a variety of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of over32,000 pounds such as truck tractors with semi or full trailers, or heavy load in-line trucks
Knowledge of cargo handling and hauling and techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo and knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and forklift operation
Knowledge of operating one or more electric, LPG, or diesel-powered forklifts typically capable of lifting less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches
Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read installation maps to determine the shortest and safest route, and meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules, while operating motor vehicles; and to judge aisles, doorways, loads and load balance, and operate controls to maneuver forklift trucks
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle, forklift, and power take-off unit operation and preventive maintenance
Knowledge of the full range of passenger processing for both incoming and outgoing passengers and knowledge of travel regulations, instructions, and other guidance regarding passenger travel
Skill in communicating orally to individuals and groups, and ability to work with others in a customer service environment
The work requires above average physical ability, long periods of standing, walking, stretching, and lifting of heavy baggage
The work is performed in an air terminal with moderate risks that require special safety precautions
