Responsibilities

Assist Instructors and Principal Investigators in a research laboratory

Assist in experiments for research projects under supervision of the project head and the PI of the laboratory

Collection of and accurate recording of procedures and results

Maintenance of databases used in the lab

Ordering necessary reagents to conduct experiments

Participation in joint upkeep of the lab

Supervision and oversight of activities conducted by Research Technician I/II members of the lab

Maintenance and genetic manipulation of adherent, suspension, and circulating tumor cells

PCR, Western blotting, reporter assays, molecular assays, proliferation assays, plasmid construction and/or mutagenesis, data analysis, immunofluorescence microscopy, mouse models including tissue digestion

Patient sample handling (e.g. blood, tissue) and training on microfluidic devices may also be part of the work

Participates in upkeep of lab, performs basic maintenance on laboratory equipment, and reports malfunctioning equipment for repair

Organizes and accurately maintains written records of experimental procedures and data collection

Data may be represented as graphs, charts, tables, illustrations, slides, and narrative reports

Assist in preparation of manuscripts resulting from data generated in research projects

Participate and present data at weekly lab meetings and journal clubs
