IT Systems Specialist III
South Orange County Community College District is seeking an IT Systems Specialist III to perform skilled electrical work in the installation and maintenance of traffic signals and other electrical traffic-control devices. The role involves installing and maintaining traffic signal equipment, conducting preventative maintenance inspections, and providing emergency services as needed.

Responsibilities
Installs traffic signal equipment, including poles, loops, controllers, underground and overhead cables, and any other associated equipment
Maintains all types of traffic signal equipment, including controllers, monitors, detectors, coordinators, and other associated equipment
Performs preventative maintenance inspections as required, including cleaning optical systems, replacing lamps, cables, and adjusting fixtures
Provides after-hours emergency service working on a rotational, standby schedule
Performs related work as required
Qualification
Required
Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
Four years experience in electronics maintenance or as an electrical journeyman
Must possess a valid driver's license
Possession of a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class “B” with Air Brakes, is required within three months from date of hire
International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) or Florida Department of Transportation Work Zone Certification is required or must be obtained within one year from date of hire
Ability to gain knowledge of methods, practices, techniques, and materials of the traffic signal, electrical, or electronics trade
Ability to read and work from plans, schematics, and displays
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to troubleshoot and locate defective devices and make repairs
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to operate a personal computer
Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles and trucks, including platform or bucket trucks
Requires working outdoors
Position requires walking, stooping, bending, climbing, and stretching
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Requires working at heights up to 50 feet above the ground from either a platform truck or bucket truck
Preferred
Two years experience in traffic signal maintenance and/or construction preferred
Graduation from an electrical or electronics trade school preferred
IMSA Level I or Level II Traffic Signal Certification preferred
