Responsibilities

Attaches electrode lead lines to proper body areas based on type of test ordered
Prepares skin and surroundings to ensure valid results
Obtains and documents ECG readings as directed
Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors
Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately
Identifies and corrects for artifacts
Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation
Maintains ECG equipment and supplies

Qualification

InterpretationTelemetry monitoringBasic Life SupportHigh School diploma

Required

High School diploma
Successful completion of ECG interpretation coursework
CPR – Basic Life Support
