Responsibilities

Set enterprise cloud strategy for AWS across lines of business; articulate value cases, TCO, risk posture, and executive OKRs tied to measurable operational outcomes (SLOs, error budgets)
Design multi‑region reference architectures (active/active and active/standby) covering identity, networking, data, compute, and application tiers: Global routing & failover (Amazon Route 53, AWS Global Accelerator), landing zone & org controls (AWS Organizations, Control Tower), multi‑VPC patterns (Transit Gateway), and secure connectivity (Direct Connect/VPN)
Data resilience patterns (Aurora Global Database, DynamoDB Global Tables, S3 CRR/RTC, MSK/Kinesis) with clearly defined RTO/RPO and DR/BCP playbooks
Lead through observability: establish logging/metrics/traces standards (CloudWatch, X‑Ray, OpenTelemetry), SLO/SLA frameworks, runbooks, and incident review loops; coach teams on telemetry‑driven decisions
Own production responsibilities: drive readiness gates, non‑functional requirements (security, performance, scalability), release governance, and operability (on‑call models, error budgets, reliability KPIs)
Advise on FinServ/FinTech constraints: PCI DSS, SOX, FFIEC, GLBA; data residency/lineage; model auditability; segregation of duties; encryption & key management (KMS multi‑Region)
Enable platform engineering: IaC (Terraform/CDK), CI/CD, immutable infrastructure, golden images, policy‑as‑code (OPA/Conformance Packs), and cost governance (FinOps)
Coach and influence without direct authority: facilitate exec and engineering workshops, steer large programs amid ambiguity, and build coalitions that keep transformation moving

Required

10+ years in enterprise architecture/strategy, including large‑scale AWS programs in regulated industries; 5+ years leading production workloads at scale
Demonstrated AWS multi‑region design and DR/BCP experience for mission‑critical systems (active/active, cross‑Region replication, global data)
Observability leadership: you've implemented org‑wide telemetry standards, SLOs, and post‑incident learning; hands‑on with CloudWatch/X‑Ray and modern APM/metrics stacks (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Datadog/New Relic)
Security/compliance fluency in FinServ: controls design, audit evidence, policy‑as‑code, encryption/KMS, IAM boundaries, network segmentation
Strong communication with C‑suite and engineering; ability to translate complex trade‑offs into clear decisions and roadmaps
Hands‑on comfort with IaC (Terraform/CDK) and modern delivery (GitHub Actions/Jenkins/CodePipeline); pragmatic approach to incremental modernization
The senior strategist/architect emphasis, executive communication expectations, and consultative delivery language align with our standard enterprise architect JD tone and structure
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support data-informed task execution
A solid understanding of AI capabilities and limitations including ethical considerations is expected

Preferred

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional; AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional; FinOps Certified; CKA/CKAD (for EKS‑centric estates)
Experience across EKS/ECS/Lambda; data platforms (Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, Lake Formation, Glue); streaming (MSK/Kinesis)
Prior work in FinTech/FinServ domains (payments, trading, risk, fraud), including regulatory change programs
Familiarity with multi‑cloud boundary cases and interlock patterns (e.g., Azure for Windows/Productivity workloads) — helpful for portfolio strategy conversations
