7+ years expESPO Corporation is seeking an experienced Distribution Designer / Electrical Designer for a contract opportunity supporting a national EPC firm on electric utility distribution projects. This role will support both overhead and underground distribution design efforts, working as part of a multidisciplinary project team that delivers high-quality utility infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities
Perform planning, site evaluations, analytical design, and preparation of electrical distribution plans and construction documentation
Support a diverse portfolio of utility distribution projects, including both overhead and underground systems
Develop and prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bills of material (BOMs), and related design deliverables
Apply strong working knowledge of NESC and applicable utility standards, guides, specifications, and procedures
Execute design revisions, redlines, and markups on active projects
Analyze reports, drawings, and test data to support project design decisions
Interpret and incorporate applicable design codes and specifications
Perform design reviews for quality assurance, ensuring compliance with scope, budget, and schedule
Organize and maintain project drawings, plot files, and documentation in a structured and traceable manner
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, providing clear and concise written and verbal communication
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Drafting Technology or related field with 7+ years of relevant experience
Associate Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
High School Diploma / GED with 9+ years of progressive design and detailing experience
Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel
Ability to quickly learn and adopt new design software tools
Advanced use of 2D and 3D design applications
Strong understanding of electrical distribution design calculations and systems
Advanced knowledge of discipline-specific design practices with working knowledge of related disciplines
Ability to execute production tasks using applicable design software
Overhead and underground distribution design
Reconductoring design
Overloaded transformer replacement
Underground Residential Distribution (URD) replacements
Underground cable replacement
Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers in a multi-disciplinary environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities
Preferred
Utility industry experience strongly preferred
