Canton Millwright Mechanic

The City of Canton is seeking a Canton Millwright Mechanic to join their Water Reclamation Facility team. The role involves maintenance, repair, rebuilding, and adjustment of various types of equipment to ensure efficient operations at the Water Pollution Control Center.

Responsibilities

Repairs, rebuilds, replaces, adjusts, and makes other necessary changes to maintain or improve the operation of equipment such as pumps, motors, collectors, bar screens, boilers, air compressors, belt presses, incinerators, and a wide variety of other equipment
As directed by supervision, responsible for repair, replacement, and changes in the piping systems
Other related duties, not listed but consistent with and similar in nature to the above examples, may also be required

Required

Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or have a permanent resident card
Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
Thorough knowledge of all phases of maintenance and millwright operations
Ability to diagnose equipment problems and failures and make changes to prevent failure
Ability to maintain, repair, rebuild, replace, and adjust many types of equipment
Ability to use mechanical tools and equipment
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and experience in mechanical equipment repair and alignment of equipment; and several years of practical related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Applicants MUST submit a copy of the valid driver's license and any other pertinent documentation along with their application

Preferred

Waste Water Treatment incentive pay shall be paid to employee(s) in this classification provided the employee possesses a Class I, II, or III Certificate as issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency
