Legal Analyst/Sr. Legal Analyst

The Legal Analyst/Sr. Legal Analyst will work closely with the General Counsel on various legal matters, coordinate corporate audits, manage record retention, and respond to regulatory inquiries.

Responsibilities

Work directly with General Counsel to coordinate Board matters including agendas, minutes, annual elections/appointments of Board Members, Board correspondence and other related matters
Coordinate corporate audit responses to external auditors
Manage enterprise-wide record retention and destruction schedules and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and overseeing implementation of legal holds to safeguard critical information during litigation and investigations
Coordinate the intake and assignment of Department of Insurance complaints and regulatory data calls for response, ensuring timely responses, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
Maintain liaison with outside counsel, monitor status of litigation, provide support for discovery requests, and serve as an assistant to Counsel as needed
Perform legal research of statues, regulations and case law and prepare memorandum to Counsel
Respond to telephone and written inquiries from insurance companies, attorneys, and insurance departments, assist in the resolution of problems
Oversee the operation of insolvency and rehabilitation orders, maintaining liaison with Insurance Departments as needed
Prepare insolvency reports under the supervision of the Counsel
Coordinate annual Legal Services strategic plan

Required

Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor's degree in a law related field or Associate's degree and paralegal training. Additional appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
3 or more years of Paralegal experience required
Experience with on-line legal research services, spreadsheets, databases, word processing and project related software
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office productivity tools (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel) to manage work
Demonstrated proficiency with legal research methods and procedures
Effective problem-solving skills, including ability to analyze complex issues, find the root cause of the problem, and consider a wide range of alternatives before acting
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or individuals
Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility while maintaining attention to detail
Demonstrate excellent organizational skills
Ability to work independently and interact professionally and effectively in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to perform in cross-functional situations
