Cardiovascular Technologist – Contract Position

GD Resources is seeking highly skilled Cardiovascular Technologists to support the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs at the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. The role involves assisting cardiologists during various cardiovascular procedures while ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with standards.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures
Perform diagnostic tests and patient monitoring including:
Electrocardiograms (ECG)
Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
Fractional flow reserve assessments
Cardiac output monitoring and hemodynamic assessments
Prepare and maintain catheters, guidewires, angioplasty balloons, stents, and other procedural equipment
Operate radiologic fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring systems
Monitor patient cardiac rhythms and physiologic parameters, recognize abnormal readings, and initiate emergency procedures as needed
Maintain procedural logs, reports, and compliance documentation in CPRS and PACS systems
Ensure proper setup of procedure suites, including sterile supplies and fluoroscopic equipment
Perform quality assurance and calibration of laboratory equipment
Support additional cardiac interventions, including:
Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI)
Pacemaker / ICD implantation
Endomyocardial biopsies
Rotational atherectomy and complex hemodynamic procedures
Transcatheter structural heart interventions

Required

Completion of an accredited educational program in cardiovascular technology
Certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
Minimum of two years' experience performing catheterization and electrophysiology lab procedures, including at least 12 months within the past 24 months (excluding training)
Current licensure in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
Proficiency with cardiovascular monitoring equipment and diagnostic software (Philips Medical, Biosense, ESI, Medtronic cryoconsole, Siemens Syngo Dynamics)
Ability to recognize normal and abnormal cardiac anatomy, physiology, and rhythms
Strong English communication skills (spoken and written)
Pre-assignment medical evaluation within 30 days of starting assignment
Immunizations and compliance with OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards, including Hepatitis B, PPD skin test, and other required vaccines
Participation in VA-mandated training, including Infection Control, Diversity, Fire Safety, and Information Security
Professional appearance and adherence to dress code (scrubs with lab coat when not in procedure areas)
Background and drug screening compliance
