Research
Responsibilities
Review FOIL requests and determine whether requested public records exist
Review records for responsiveness
Perform legal research
Propose redactions of confidential information
Draft responses for FOIL requests
Monitor and update GovQA as needed
Collaborate with internal staff on FOIL and records-related matters
Liaise with internal departments and legal representatives as needed
Perform administrative duties, including scheduling meetings and conferences
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and four years of paralegal or legal assistant experience
Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to organize and analyze large volumes of information and documents
Ability to perform administrative duties such as scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and responding to calls and emails
Accurate, detail-oriented, and solution-focused
Strong organizational skills
Ability to manage changing priorities, competing demands, and deadlines
Proficiency with online legal research tools, Microsoft Office, OneDrive, Teams, Zoom, and other collaboration platforms
Preferred
Four years of paralegal or legal assistant experience supporting FOIL or document review in a college, in-house legal department, law firm, government agency, or non-profit
