Pre-construction Project Engineer

Responsibilities
Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of favorable relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams
Collaborate with project managers to develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets
Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues to maintain desired timelines/schedules
Implement, monitor, and assist in enforcement of quality control measures to guarantee the highest standards in concrete construction
Support/lead the foremen through the projects as needed/required
Assist the estimating department with take-offs and estimates; review vendor/subcontractor quotes
Review project plans, specifications, and proposals, then work with management to develop project objectives
Prepare materials and documents/documentation/layout assistance tools, based on plans/specifications and project requirements, for each project
Assist in establishing, monitoring, and maintaining/updating construction work schedules
Assist project management with accurately identifying quantifying, pricing, and processing changes/proposed changes in work scope
Prepare/organize/maintain/make available contract documents to field operation forces, for each project
Review contract drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering / Construction from four - year college or university
2+ Years of construction management experience
Proficiency with AutoCAD/IntelliCAD/Revit/Topcon Robotics
Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time management to meet strict deadlines
Should be competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks/smaller projects
Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done. This position will require more than 40 hours per week
Strict attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
Knowledge of project management, scheduling, resource management and estimating
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Analytical and mathematical skills, quick thinking, and a solid understanding of the main principles of engineering, construction, and architecture
Experience in reading/understanding structural/architectural/civil contract drawings
Experience in reading/understanding concrete work-related specialty contractor/vendor shop drawings
