Commissioning Project Engineer

Responsibilities

Conduct on-site inspections and performance testing of mechanical and HVAC systems
Develop and manage commissioning documentation and testing procedures
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders to maintain schedule alignment
Provide timely status updates and raise issues proactively to supervisors and project teams
Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support technical documentation
Maintain clear communication and follow-through on assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Travel throughout New York State and the tri-state area as needed
Additional duties may be assigned based on evolving project and business needs

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
At least 3 years of experience in a technical or building systems environment (HVAC operations, commissioning, or similar), beyond graduation
Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively
Experience managing multiple tasks across multiple projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must clearly report progress and ask questions as needed
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other project management tools
Self-motivated with the ability to adapt quickly, multitask, and work both independently and collaboratively
Deliver high-quality, professional work products and reports
Communicate clearly, consistently, and on time with project teams and clients
Comply with company policies and uphold safety, respect, and ethical standards
Take ownership of tasks and contribute positively to team dynamics
Meet deadlines reliably and escalate obstacles or delays in advance
Takes a proactive approach to safety in the workplace for all Willdan Energy Solutions, Willdan Group, Inc. operations, subsidiaries, offices, company worksites, client/affiliate worksites, while traveling on behalf of the company and while working remotely

Preferred

Training in HVAC, building systems, or energy-related disciplines is a plus
Certifications such as LEED, ACP, CCP (BCxA), or CBCP (AEE) are a plus
Eagerness to learn about complex systems (e.g., boilers, pumps, controls, BMS)
