Senior, Data Scientist - Last Mile Delivery

Responsibilities
Develop, test, and optimize algorithms for Walmart’s Last Mile Delivery platform
Analyze large-scale logistics and delivery datasets to generate actionable insights
Implement machine learning models to improve delivery efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance both customer and driver experiences
Partner with engineering, product, and business teams to translate business needs into effective data science solutions
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business KPIs
Qualification
Required
MS or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science
3–5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or logistics optimization
Proficiency in large dataset mining tools and open-source programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL)
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to address both structured and unstructured problems
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Experience in the retail or customer delivery industry is a plus
Option 1- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field
Option 2- Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field
Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field
Preferred
Data science, machine learning, optimization models
Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics
Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch)
