Responsibilities
Research regarding coverage issues and writing coverage opinions providing legal advice to insurance clients across many different lines of liability coverages
Independently manage a litigation caseload for both first-party insurance disputes and coverage disputes arising from third-party liability coverage
Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements
Prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, including depositions
Attend mediations and otherwise negotiate settlements
Retain and manage experts, including assisting with expert inspections and the creation of expert reports
Communicate with shareholders, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently
Qualification
Required
4-5 years of insurance coverage experience
Strong insurance knowledge
Strong research and writing skills
J.D. from an accredited law school
Admission to the State Bar of Texas
Experience preparing insurance coverage opinions and participating in coverage litigation
Experience analyzing, reviewing, editing, and drafting litigation documents, as well as superior logical reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical skills
Must have demonstrated the ability to work with clients who demand excellence and be able to meet their expectations
A commitment to working ethically and always in the best interest of the client
Excellent work ethic, articulate, and efficient
Must be a self-starter and be able to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
