Senior Accountant
Havens Group represents a respected nonprofit in Kansas City that focuses on mission-driven healthcare and services for children and adults. The Senior Accountant will lead daily accounting operations, month-end close, and financial reporting while ensuring accuracy and compliance within the organization.
Responsibilities
AP/AR, cash management, journal entries, transactional workflows
Monthly reconciliations across funds and balance sheet accounts
Month-end close support + GL accuracy
Financial statements, variance analysis, dashboards
Insights for leadership and program teams
Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning support
GAAP compliance, documentation, and audit support
Internal controls, process integrity, policy adherence
ERP/financial systems optimization and workflow improvements
Oversee payroll preparation with clerk support
Ensure accurate, timely biweekly processing
Partner with program leaders on financial impact
Translate operational data into financial insight
Special projects, process improvements, system enhancements
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Hands-on accounting experience with AP/AR, journal entries, cash management, and balance sheet reconciliations
Month-end close and financial reporting experience, including financial statements, variance analysis, and GL accuracy
Working knowledge of GAAP and internal controls, with experience supporting audits and maintaining process integrity
Proficiency with ERP/financial systems and demonstrated ability to improve processes and support cross-functional teams
Strong Excel and data analysis abilities
Detail-oriented, organized, proactive problem-solver
Clear communicator, comfortable working across departments
High integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive data
Preferred
